Alastair co-founded NVM with Michael Denny and Tim Levett in 1988. He was managing director of NVM from 1988 to 2008 and then financial director from 2008 until March 2018. He now has a part-time role at NVM looking after the Northern VCTs’ AIM-quoted investments and managing the run-off of the Northern Investors Company PLC portfolio and the ensuing return of capital to investors. He is also a non-executive director of Northern 2 VCT PLC, a member of the AIC’s VCT Technical Committee, a member of the advisory board of North East Finance and treasurer of the Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. Prior to joining NVM he graduated in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University and qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in Newcastle upon Tyne.
