Portfolio in partnership.

NVM Private Equity currently works with 55 portfolio companies across a wide range of sectors, so it’s not surprising that some companies can offer each other mutually beneficial products and services. Our investment team actively looks for partnerships within the portfolio to help increase sales or improve business efficiency.

NVM invested in e-know.net in 2005, and was so impressed with its managed IT services that it seemed entirely natural that NVM should transfer its own IT to e-know.net to become a fully-fledged customer. e-know.net has recently joined forces with NVM-backed Arleigh International, a supplier of accessories and spares to the holiday home and boating market. Arleigh acquired Nova Leisure in August 2011, so Nova’s operations transferred to Arleigh’s head office. Areigh’s existing IT systems could not keep up pace with the demands of a growing business so the Arleigh management team decided to benefit from e-know.net’s Cloud network services. Alastair Thomas, managing director of Arleigh, comments: “With our systems now being managed by e-know.net, we are free to focus on other key aspects of the Nova project.”

NVM-backed Envirotec and S & P Coil Products (SPC) have been in partnership for nearly 30 years. Envirotec manufactures air curtains and air handling equipment, whilst SPC manufactures heating and ventilation products, so both companies trade in similar sectors. Chris Lister, managing director of Envirotec, comments that “the relationship has been even stronger over the past two years.” Envirotec now produces bespoke ranges of air curtains for SPC, which then sells them to its customers. SPC sells Envirotec the coils used in the manufacture of their products. Warwick Taylor, UK managing director of SPC explains: “SPC has already developed a substantial business for their own products throughout the Middle East, but have recently been working with Envirotec to develop sales of door curtains. Envirotec’s quality & product range are ideally suited to the region and our long term relationship has certainly helped to broaden our product offering.

Martin Green, managing director of NVM, who works alongside e-know.net, Arleigh International and Envirotec, says that “it’s important to create relationships where possible within our portfolio. The diverse range of companies we work with enables us to bring businesses together to develop market share and encourage growth.
